Discover the best of Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras on a varied journey filled with cultural and scenic highlights. Mysterious Maya ruins, charming colonial towns, spectacular lake and volcano landscapes, and striking natural beauty in tropical rainforests and cloud forests await you.

You will spend 14 nights in carefully selected mid-range hotels located in historic towns, on the shores of picturesque Lake Atitlán, and in a lodge in the heart of the Honduran rainforest. This journey through three fascinating countries takes place over 15 days in an air-conditioned vehicle with an accompanying guide.

PROGRAM

DAY 1, GUATEMALA-STADT

Arrival in Guatemala City and transfer to your hotel in the city. Overnight in Guatemala City.

DAY 2, GUATEMALA-CITY - FLORES - TIKAL - FLORES

Transfer to the airport on time for your flight to Flores. Your tour leader awaist to dedicate plenty of time to exploring the Maya site of Tikal. At its peak, from 250 to 900 AD, Tikal was one of the grandest cities of the Maya world—and it has preserved its unique magic to this day. The massive pyramids rising above the rainforest canopy have an elegance and mystique you’ll never forget. In the later afternoon, we visit the charming island of Flores, a small and colorful colonial town set on Lake Petén Itzá. Its narrow cobblestone streets invite you to take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the relaxed island atmosphere. At the center lies the main square, where you can visit the small church and the local historic museum—both offering a lovely glimpse into the history of the region and the former Maya capital of Tayasal.

DAY 3, FLORES - LANQUIN

Today we set out on a full travel day into the green heart of Alta Verapaz. Although the journey is long, it is wonderfully scenic, taking us through one of Guatemala’s most diverse and lush regions. We begin by crossing the tropical lowlands of Petén, and little by little the landscape transforms as dense, green mountains rise around us on our way into Q’eqchi’ territory. The air becomes cooler, and sweeping mountain views accompany us until we reach the surroundings of Lanquín, a small and picturesque village set deep in nature.We arrive in the late afternoon, with enough time to unwind after the journey. You can relax at the hotel, listen to the sounds of the tropical forest surrounding the property, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this region before settling in for the night. Overnight in Lanquín.

DAY 4, NATIONALPARK SEMUC CHAMPEY - COBÁN

After breakfast, we head toward one of Guatemala’s most iconic natural treasures: Semuc Champey. We journey into this stunning place, famous for its turquoise pools formed over a natural limestone bridge beneath which the Cahabón River flows. We’ll spend several hours exploring the area. Those who wish can hike up to the viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the entire series of stepped pools. Others may prefer to take a refreshing swim in the warm, crystal‑clear waters—perfect for relaxing in the middle of this unique jungle setting. Time in Semuc Champey moves at a slower pace: the sound of birds, the lush vegetation, and the rumbling river create an atmosphere ideal for disconnecting and appreciating the natural beauty of Alta Verapaz. By mid to late afternoon, we begin our journey back toward Lanquín, and then continue on to Cobán, once again crossing mountains, valleys, and forests that shift in color as the sun goes down. We arrive in Cobán at dusk and settle into our hotel. Overnight in Cobán.

DAY 5, COBÁN - PANAJACHEL

We continue with a scenic journey from Cobán into the heart of the Guatemalan highlands. The road leads us through ever‑changing landscapes: cloud forests, lush green mountains, small indigenous villages, and plantations that reflect the rhythm of rural life in this part of the country. By the afternoon, we gradually descend toward the basin of the majestic Lake Atitlán, considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, surrounded by three impressive volcanoes and picturesque Maya villages. Finally, we arrive in Panajachel. After the long drive, you’ll have the rest of the day to unwind at the hotel. You may relax by the pool, enjoy a massage or spa treatment, or simply soak in the peaceful views of the lake as the afternoon settles in. Overnight in Panajachel.

DAY 6, PANAJACHEL - SANTIAGO ATITLÁN - PANAJACHEL - ANTIGUA

After breakfast, we take an enjoyable boat ride across the lake to the Tzutuhil village of Santiago Atitlán. Along the way, you can soak in the stunning scenery with its impressive volcanoes rising around the shores. In Santiago, we stroll through a vibrant indigenous market, a wonderful place to find small souvenirs and experience local life up close. Many of the ancient Maya traditions are still preserved here, something you can clearly see in the town’s historic church. We will also visit a ceremony dedicated to Maximón, a unique Maya deity and folk saint who continues to play an important role in the spiritual life of the community. In the afternoon,continue to Antigua. Overnight

DAY 7, ANTIGUA

After breakfast, we’ll spend the morning exploring the former capital of Guatemala in depth. Filled with countless colonial ruins, the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. We’ll visit highlights such as the Convent of Las Capuchinas, the Cathedral, the churches of San Francisco and La Merced, the main square, and many other charming corners. We’ll also head up to the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint, where you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the surrounding volcanoes and the beautiful town of Antigua.

Optional : In the afternoon, you can join a Guatemalan cooking class located just a short drive from Antigua. Here you’ll learn how to prepare traditional local dishes (starter, main course, dessert, and handmade tortillas), and afterwards enjoy a lovely dinner in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. At the end of the experience, we return to the hotel in Antigua.

DAY 8, ANTIGUA - TAZUMAL (EL SALVADOR) - ATACO

After breakfast, we head toward El Salvador. After crossing the border, we make a stop to visit the Maya ruins of Tazumal, considered the most important and best‑preserved archaeological site in the country. One of the highlights is a life‑size stone sculpture of a Nahua deity, an impressive piece with great historical value. We then continue to Ataco, a charming town along the Ruta de las Flores. Here you can stroll through its colorful streets, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and take in the local culture. Overnight in Ataco.

DAY 9, ATACO - RUTA DE LAS FLORES - CERRO VERDE NATIONAL PARK

In the morning, we’ll visit Beneficio de Café El Carmen, one of the most important coffee estates in the region, where you’ll get a first‑hand look at the entire coffee‑making process, from the plant all the way to the cup. Afterwards, we travel along the “Route of Flowers,” making short stops and visits, including the colonial-style towns of Juayúa and Nahuizalco. We will stop for photos at Lake Coatepeque and then continue along the lakeshore into Cerro Verde National Park. The lush greenery, pristine crater lakes, and the imposing presence of the volcanoes create an enchanting atmosphere in Cerro Verde National Park that captivates every visitor. Cerro Verde is not just a destination, but an immersion into the raw beauty of nature. Depending on the time of arrival, we will take a short walk to the viewpoint, from where the panoramic view over the national park and all the way to the Pacific Ocean conveys a sense of fulfillment and connection with the natural beauty of El Salvador. Overnight on the volcano.

DAY 10, CERRO VERDE NATIONAL PARK - JOYA DE CERÉN - SUCHITOTO

After breakafast, we continue our journey to the archaeological site of Joya de Cerén, known as the “Pompeii of El Salvador.” Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, this remarkable place offers a surprisingly complete picture of everyday life in a 6th‑century Mesoamerican farming village. In 590 AD, the settlement was buried by a volcanic eruption, and the ash preserved the structures and objects exactly as they were left. After the visit, we continue to Suchitoto, where we arrive in the late afternoon or early evening.

DAY 11, SUCHITOTO - LA CINQUERA - SUCHITOTO

After breakfast we visit the rural community of La Cinquera. This post‑war community is an inspiring example of how collective effort can transform people’s lives. During the civil conflict of the 1980s, La Cinquera was an important stronghold of the FMLN, and today the community has turned its history into a tourism project that aims both to share this key chapter of El Salvador’s past and to protect the surrounding forest from illegal logging. During the visit, we explore the small Civil War Museum and the central park, where local guides explain how the community rebuilt itself and organized to preserve its natural environment. After the tour, we return to Suchitoto, where you’ll have time to stroll along its cobblestone streets and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this charming town. Suchitoto offers the feeling of stepping back in time, with well‑preserved colonial architecture, colorful art galleries, and local crafts. One of its main highlights is the beautiful Santa Lucía Church, built in 1853 and proudly standing on the main square.

Optional : In the afternoon  take a boat tour on Suchitlán Lake, the largest artificial lake in  the country. Its natural scenic beauty makes it an ideal destination to enjoy an artisan boat ride with one of the local boaters. During the boat ride you will be able to visit the different islands that surround the lake, home of migratory birds and native animals.

DAY 12, SUCHITOTO - COPÁN (HONDURAS)

On a scenic and varied drive, passing through changing landscapes and picturesque villages, we reach the Honduran border in the early afternoon. After completing the immigration formalities, we continue to the charming town of Copán Ruinas, known for its peaceful atmosphere, cobblestone streets, and traditional architecture. There will be plenty of time to stroll at your own pace, enjoy the town’s relaxed rhythm, and discover its cozy cafés, small art galleries, and local handicraft shops.

DAY 13, COPÁN

Today is all about the Maya civilization. The ruins of Copán are considered some of the most outstanding structures built by the Maya. They are set in a beautiful valley surrounded by extensive coffee and vegetable plantations. During the visit, you will explore the Acropolis, the impressive ball court, the famous Hieroglyphic Stairway, and the Central Plaza with its artistic stelae. The volcanic andesite stone found in Copán allowed ancient stonemasons to carve extremely precise glyphs. Thanks to this exceptional preservation, researchers have been able to reconstruct 400 years of Maya history here more accurately than at any other site.Afterwards there will be time for sightseeing and dining in the picturesque town of Copán.

DAY 14, COPÁN - PULHAPANZAK - CERRO AZUL MEAMBAR NATIONAL PARK

Our trip continues on a panoramic tour towards Lake Yojoa. The region around Lake Yojoa is rich in different habitats for various animals. It is the home or temporary residence of more than 300 species of migratory birds. We continue to the most beautiful waterfall in Honduras: Pulhapanzak, which served as inspiration and basis for Walt Disney's world famous film "The Jungle Book" during his trip through Honduras in 1965. With a drop of approximately 140 feet/43 meters It is only 30 feet/9 meters lower than Niagara Falls. Based on several artifacts surrounding the waterfall, it is believed that this was an important ceremonial center for the ancient Mayans. Enjoy the unique beauty that the Rio Lindo has carved into a tropical canyon. Then we continue to the Lodge in the Cerro Azul Meambar National Park.

DAY 15, CERRO AZUL MEAMBAR NATIONAL PARK - SAN PEDRO SULA

Morning walk through the close by trails. The visitor´s centre is located at 850m elevation at the entrance to the national park and the unspoiled rainforest. Depending on your international departure. Transfer to San Pedro Sula on time for international departure and/or combined tour or extension to the Bay Islands or Caribbean Beaches.
